About Me
I’m Akash, a product design engineer from MIT interested in innovative design prioritizing form, fit, and function. I am a Project Engineer with Datum3D, a Boston-based product development firm, and work as a Venture Capital Fellow with the MIT alumni fund – Castor Ventures.
A well designed product is one that we look forward to using. Products we build should delight, excite, and bring beauty to the lives of our users.

Precision Camera Slider
A friend is a budding force who works as a staff writer for a TV series in LA. While he was studying, he found trouble accessing an accurate, portable, controllable and affordable (<$300) camera slider – so I set out to build one for him and others in his position.
Industrial Yo Yo Manufacturing
Through 2.008 at MIT, our team designed and created 50 functional yo yo’s. Each yo yo consists of two body halves, two enclosing plates which can attach to lego bricks and through which a Lego minifig is visible, and a thermoformed bubble to keep the minifigs inside the yo yos.
Vantage – Design of Beta Prototype
As a part of MIT’s capstone mechanical engineering course (2.009, Product Engineering Process), I was a part of a 20-person team. Together, we designed, ideated, prototyped and ultimately produced a beta-level product – Vantage.
